International Business News – The number of international students from China who will study in Australia in 2022 has yet to recover to pre-COVID-19 levels, according to new data released by the federal government.
According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), 153,239 Chinese students have come to Australia since the country’s gates were reopened, compared to a total of 21,975 for all of 2019.
This means that the number of Chinese students this year is 28 percent lower than in 2019. Despite this, Chinese students continue to top the list of international students by country, accounting for approximately 26% of all international students, down 2% compared to three years ago.
In addition to Chinese students, the top five countries for overseas students in Australia are India (16%), Nepal (9%), Vietnam (4%) and Colombia (3%).
